Inner Journey 2 offers graduates of Inner Journey 1 the opportunity to deepen and strengthen their practice of the tools introduced in the first of the two series workshops. It is the next step in the transformative system from self-defeating imprints to creative living. Participants practice aligning emotional energies with clear intentions, moving from analytic thinking to intuition, deepening acceptance of self and others, and accelerating shifts from ego to authentic self.
These practices are supported by research in interpersonal neurobiology that examines how the brain, body and mind are shaped by relationships, and how cultivating healthy relationships and self-reflection develop a well-integrated brain that integrates complex neural processes that manifest as spontaneous insights and understandings (https://drdansiegel.com/interpersonal-neurobiology/).
While interpersonal neurobiology provides scientific basis for an intuition explained as an integrated nervous system, we also call on the wisdom of spiritual practices across ages that foreground the experience of “surrender” of the ego structure to the Divine Nature as an access path to emotional freedom and peace of mind. The “ego”, as taught at the Center for Heart-Mind Coherence, is understood as the amalgamation of all the coping mechanisms developed as survival strategies in reaction to developmental wounds and trauma. Thus the “surrender” experienced in a spiritual awakening or insight, is the shedding of old coping mechanisms in a newfound trust in love and coherence. Self-help movements, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, foreground in their first 3 steps this experience of surrender and its salubrious and freeing effect on body and mind.
